Steering Shaft and Box for 68+ Disassembly? 120-130

I've been able to figure out how to fit a 69+ ignition lock onto my 1967 220 (ES) project car. I'll share more info on that later.

I'd like to have the offset safety steering shaft setup like found on the 68+ amazons and the early 140s. I was thinking instead of finding and buying a rare 68 or 140 steering box, I could just buy the offset shaft from a later-model steering box.

I disassembled my spare steering box and found that only way to remove the steering shaft was to pull it through the front of the box. This is fine for early model steering shafts where the connector end comes off, but on the 68+ style with the offset and triangular part I can't see how one would be able to remove the steering shaft from it. How would I ever go about replacing the seals in a 68+ box?

If I wanted to get the shaft from an early 140 or a late amazon, how would I remove it from the steering box?
