M40 a little noisy and volvo video 120-130 1965

My 122s has a little more gear noise than I am used to. I replaced a collapsed transmission mount, Ujoints, Center Bearing and rubber bushings. When I had the driveline out, I noticed that the output of the transmission was leaking and there was a noticeable amount of slop front and back and side to side on the output shaft pinion of the tranny. I'm probably going to pick up a used m40, but I was trying to get a rough idea how long m40s tend to last after they get sloppy like this?

The shift linkage is pretty sloppy too.

Here is a video of the our 122 about 5 minutes after we started it for the first time: http://oregonstate.edu/~onstottc/volvo/volvo.html

When I bought it the Carbs were in bad shape, the head gasket was blown and the exhaust valves were shot. The generator bracket was broken in several places.

You might be able to pick up a few mods I have made. I replaced the head bolts with ARP studs. I put heat barrier film on the carb heat shield and used some extra insulator blocks from my jaguar Xj6. I nickel plated the steel carb parts and some of the linkage. The K&N filters came off of my out of commission XJ6. I took the metal plates off of an old set of air filters that were on the Volvo and they were a perfect fit for the K&N's.

I installed a GM 10si 65 amp alternator from an old buick. I made the brackets myself.

A rebuilt but never used head came from agent stranglove.
