Tripometer stopped after resetting but odometer fine...Gear? 200 1988

I replaced the odom. gear in my odom. when I first got this car a few months ago. Friday night, I switched out my odometer, trip reset button, and tachometer into a new dash cluster as I had apparently fried my previous PCB. Went on a short trip, and the dash gauges were the least of my concerns (for any of you kind folks who've kept up with all my issues). Odometer and tripometer worked fine. That night I did some more work to the car, and hit the trip reset button (perhaps fatefully) to help me keep track of gas mileage going forward, as my mileage and power seems both seem to have decreased after having some work done to the car last week. TOday, I noticed the tripometer has stayed at zero since I reset it, and the odometer is moving just fine. This wouldn't be the gear again would it? More likely the reset button?
