Tailgate Wires 200 1992

Hi All,

Finally getting around to fixing the broken tailgate wires on the 1992 240 wagon. Hoping to do it tomorrow with a new set of wire harnesses and I have one quick question.

Looking at the hinges, I see the main bundle where the wires broke, but there is also a pretty thick black wire that is broken too located to the outside of the wire harnesses on both driver and passenger side (basically the thick black wire is adjacent to the wire harnes. What is this wire for and how do I replace it if necessary? If I didn't make any sense here, I have a picture I can try to upload. Thanks in advance,

Jeff
