Transmission Concerns 200 1993

Hello All,

My 93 seems to have developed a problem with the tranny and I'd like to solicit your thoughts:
Tranny was flushed last week because I sensed some grinding/rumbling during the shift from first to second and again from second to third. I checked the tranny fluid and noticed that it looked quite dark even though I had flushed the tranny about 20K ago.

Here are the symptons. Despite the new flush, the symptoms continue. It should be noted that the aforementioned rumbling doesn't occur until the tranny and engine are warmed up. When first run, the shifting seems flawless, although I don't really get on it. When fully warmed, the only way I can avoid these prolonged shifts (about a second or two) is if I accelerate extremely slowly.

The shifter also operates with some difficulty and I have not yet gotten under the car to check the linkage bushings which were replaced about 80K ago nor have I examined the operation of the kickdown cable, cause we're out of town and I don't have my Bentley.

Lastly, during this most recent flush of almost 16 quarts, the fluid did not come really red. I've flushed my cars before and this is the first time I've encountered a flush where I've used 16 quarts and haven't achieved cherry red.
BTW, the car has 235k and when I get it past about 20 mph, it shifts and drives perfectly.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Marty Wolfson
