Clutch Alignment Tool 200

For once, I've discovered the "hard to find locally item that was never ordered" before the weekend. The item this time is the clutch alignment tool. My plan is to turn down a piece of aluminum or nylon (or whatever soft material is kicking around the toolroom) so that one end fits snugly in the clutch disc spline and the middle section fits a little loose between the fingers on the pressure plate. Does that sound right? Or is there something other than the fingers that the clutch should be located off of?

Thanks.
