i'm back, woohoo 200 1992

Front rotors - pretty easy
Rear rotors - potentially a pain

Antenna - It's been a while for me on a Volvo. There are different types on different models. I remember problems with the fittings spinning; couldn't reach the back side to hold it still. Maybe yours is different.

240 front calipers will unbolt from the wheel spindle; there are two fat bolts on the rear side of caliper holding it on. Turn (steer) the wheel to get good access to the bolt heads. You leave the brake lines attached, just pull the caliper off to the side and hang from main coil spring with a wire or heavy cord. You'll find one small stud screw holding the rotor on the spindle from the front side, just unscrew using the hex fitting there.

Usually the rotor will pull right off. Occasionally it won't. Time for a hammer.

If the rotor doesn't want to come off, hammer outwards from the rear with a 3-5 lb. hammer. I tried with a regular 16 oz. and got nowhere till I used the BFH. Slam rotor, rotate 2 studs worth of revolution, slam again. Watch rotor progress against the stud threads. I had to pound on mine for maybe two hours.

My favorite rust-beater is PB Blaster, but its a solvent (eats styrofoam cups) so I don't want to spray it in at the wheel bearings etc.

Rear rotors
Same deal really, except I have one that I never got off. Like the fronts, the rears usually just pull off after you remove the calipers and the little stud. These have a drum brake inside the rotor; apparently this one wore into the drum leaving a lip. I can't pull the #()*)#! thing off past the lip. So I've just been replacing pads on that one...
