Aftermarket Antenna 700 1986

OK, so the 700 series wagons go through antennas about every 3 years. I can live with that. But one of the things I was looking forward to, when my nylon antenna cable broke again, was getting rid of the annoying way that the signal would cut in and out when the car went over bumps. No luck. The brand new one does the same thing. I can stand outside the car and wiggle the antenna, and the radio cuts in and out. Have the aftermarket antennas gotten chintzier? Or is there a cure for this?
