starting performance 200 1987

greetings fellow volvo friends,

my 1987 240dl starts up perfectly in mild weather(under 90 degres F).
yet, when the air tempeture is 90F plus or if the engine is only half
way cooled off the engine hesitates to start. it does start though.
is there a temperature sensor or idle control valve or something that
causes this to happen? how can i correct it?

thank you for any advice and help!
blessings!
