1800 Shifter Extension-Help! 1800

I am putting an 1800 shifter extension in my PV race car. When I look into the hole that takes the shifter, I see an actuator rod that has a nice, round attachment at its end that obviously takes the shift lever (I do not have the shift lever - it is on its way). Question: I vaguely remember a bushing that fits down there but don't have a parts book for an 1800 - does it take one? If so, does anyone have one or the parts number? The housing takes four bolts to retain the lever and a boot. I mention this because I found another one that has the lever assembly attached with a screw-on fitting just like the stock PV - it is completely different and a little cheesy looking. There is also a 2" hole in the back of the unit I want to use. Does this accept a plug or should I weld in a plate? Thanks for your help,
Joh Hamilton
