240 wagon-should I buy it? 200

Hi Everyone,

I just found an '83?? ( has the white distributor cap, chrysler ignition) for sale for $150. The owner says that he bought it from a Volvo enthusiast about a year ago and it has been sitting since. It runs, but misses and has no power. The owner says that the car was overheated, and he believes that the head gasket needs replaced. I'm familiar with how to do this job on a B230, so it should be similar on this wagon. My thinking is to buy the car, pull head and take to the machine shop, order a new gasket, head bolts, timing belt and water pump and put it all back together to have a nice car. It's got an M46 manual trans, no rust whatsoever, 217K miles, new tires, good exhaust, and good brakes. The driver's seat is slightly torn, but all of the rest of the interior is pretty good. There's also no accident damage. I really think that it's a great deal, but I need to get the running to get it home ( 150 miles away).

Thanks in advance,

Dave
