richer idle mixture for better cold starts 200 1986

I've been experiencing some cold start difficulties (like a lot of us here). One thing I've done which seems to have improved the situation was to richen my idle mixture by tweaking the AMM adjustment screw. My understanding is that once the engine warms up, it goes into a closed-loop mode where the O2 sensor signal will be used to adjust the mixture to the proper level. My question is: is there any downside to manually setting the mixture screw to it maximum rich setting?
