intake manifold k jet- how does it come off? 200 1982

After taking my 82 brick (k-jet injection) to the friendly guy at the muffler shop who ruled out the catalytic converter and other exhaust components as the source of the stinky exhaust filling the car, he confirmed what I've been suspecting; The rubber fitting that holds the flame trap is old and brittle and no longer attached to the breather box, (lots of other stuff under the manifold could use some attention too). In the cold morning air we could actually see the fumes spilling out from under the manifold. I spent several hours trying to wrestle the new hose for the IPD relocation kit onto the nipple of the breather box, but I don't think it is actually physically possible because the nipple is surrounded by an old stiff, unmoveable hose which attaches to what I think might be the CPR on one side, and a bundle of wires in a sheath on the other side. So even though I can actually get my hands in there, there is no way to get the hose down over the nipple.
So I have started the dreaded job of removing the manifold to get to the breather box and see if I can somehow attach this hose and maybe replace the breather box and fix some wires that have lost their insulation while I'm there. I've removed the nuts from the studs that hold the manifold to the engine and two bolts that hold the manifold to a tubular support at it's front left corner. What else do I have to take off to get it to move away from the engine? Bentley says I have to drain the coolant (why??) and remove all the ductwork and fuel lines, but from reading the posts here, it sounds like the fuel lines at least could stay in place on the k jet system. Is it ok to pry it away from the engine or should it lift off easily? Can I leave the throttle and the big rubber boot in place and still move the manifold? If not, where is the best place to separate all this stuff?
