rough starts on first, sometimes second try. thoughts? 200 1987

Letely, the car's been starting hard. I have to crank for a while, and then it dies. Then i try again and it starts right up. Or, it repeats the hard start and die, then starts right up the third time.

I recently replaced the fuel tank and in-tank pump and assembly.

any ideas?
