I pick up my 1982 Volvo 242 GLT tomorow night!
Have a look at my new page for more details. I have lots of automotive experience but the is my first Volvo. Actually its my first Volvo that I need to worry about. My Wife had a 2001 V70 2.4T that she traded earlier this year on a 2004 XC70AWD which we still own.

I need to put my other car away for the winter (1980 Triumph Spitfire) and instead of riding The Red Rocket (public transit here in Toronto) all winter I convinced my better half to let me buy a winter car.

The "new" car has 240,000 km on it and looks to be really sound from a frame/body perspective. I took her for a short spin Sunday before I decided to buy and she felt really solid. The only thing I noticed right off was the OD switch on the gearshift had no effect. I don't even know if the car actually has an OD under there but I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out.
I spent a bit of time today at the parts store. I Picked up Haynes Manual, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Dist. Cap, Rotor, Plugs and Wires so I can do a quick tuneup tomorrow night.

Any advice, cautions, pitfalls, encouragement other "brickboarders" can provide is greatly appreciated.
