Go with newer style evaporator or old sytle, 245ti 200

Am replacing the old york with an r134 unit, have pusher fan and low side hose and will be retrofitting a newer bracket onto the b21. My question is do I have to buy an old style evaporator (existing one leaks)or buy a newer style; are folks retrofitting a whole new style ac system into the older cars?
