960 Timing Belt Broke - Need HELP Plz ! 900 1992

Greetings,

Have a 1992 960 Sedan with the B6304F engine.
Purchased it Jan 2000 with 94,000 miles on it.
Had it checked out at a Volvo dealership, prior to purchase, & got a thumbs up.
Serviced vehicle at dealership for scheduled maintenance.
Oct 2001 - Coolant light iluminated, called Volvo svc dept, tolds us to top off reservoir and keep eye on it.
During the next couple of weeks noticed a thick, creamy, pinkish consistency in coolant reservoir.
Took it to a different Volvo svc dept, they took a quick look at it & did not notice anything abnormal.
Dec 2001 - engine block cracked.

Jan 2003 - vehicle back in service, with short block from junk yard & new timing belt (installed by a friend mechanic - not Volvo specialist).
Jul 2003 - heard noise coming from timing belt casing.
Took it to an imported cars svc shop.
Timing belt, tension pulley & idler arm - replaced.

Aug 2004 - timing belt broke as I was driving (~50mph).
Vehicle now has 170,000 miles.

Car towed to my driveway - DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO !!!

I heard that Volvo has had problems with this particular engine.
Is this repairable? Am I better off buying another engine, and if so, what the best way to go and the approximate expenses involved. Can I put in a newer engine into this vehicle, would that solve my problem. Can I find an engine with more than 90 day warranty, 3yrs maybe?
The car is in outstanding condition, I would like to keep it, I just don't want to keep pumping money into it for the same problem.
What do you guys think?

Thanks.

V.
