Hi,
I hope all of the same people who responded to my original email will read this. I want to update you on what is going on with my car. An updated scenario.
At this time, outside temperature is not a factor as what I am experiencing is happening both in the morning and afternoon, in cooler temperatures whereas this at first it seemed to happen in the summer time heat.
What I've discovered and have come to a conclusion on is this: I can be driving down the highway at 55+ MPH and the car seems to run fine. But as soon as I slow down, and lets say put the clutch in, the engine will cut-out/hesitate. I will not die, but almost. Some times the dash lights come on as if the engine almost died. It is difficult to drive around at slower speeds in neighbor hoods because the engine wants to cut-out. It has cut-out/hesitate while idling too. Also, If put the car in neutral, and rev up the engine, when I let off the gas and the RPMS slow down, the engine will cut-out, almost every time I try that.
One other thing I've noticed is if I bog down the engine. I was driving on the highway with Overdrive engaged, and I started to slow down, and about the time I should start thinking about shifting out of overdrive, the car start to buck erratically. But as soon as I took it out of overdrive it was fine. This happens at slower speeds too, if I was to slow down, the engine doesn't like to be bogged down at all, or it will start buckin erratically. One time I was going slow in 1st gear, but still moving enough that I shouldn't have had to put the clutch in, and it started to buck very erratically, then the engine ran really rough after that. As long as the car is going fast on the freeway, or rev high, but not bogged down, the engine runs fine.
A couple more small details. When the engine is cutting out and/or bucking, sometimes when I press on the gas pedal, there is no response. Feels like there is even some resistance. Also, at higher speeds 55+ there is the loud whistle sound. I'm wondering if I have some sort of vacuum issue? Would that cause all these issues?
Any ideas?
Thanks again.
Michael
