Hi All,

I've becoming increasingly frustrated by a white oxide crust that continues to build up on the distributor contacts inside the distributor cap. It's a '82 244 B21F-MPG (Chrysler White Cap). I clean the crust off and it's back again in a month or so, and the engine begins to sputter and miss.

So far I've replaced the cap, rotor, coil and (since it looked really cruddy at 20yrs+) hall effect sensor. Normally I prefer the brass composition distributor contacts (because they seem to corrode less), but all I can seem to find has been one with aluminum contacts made by Niehoff.

Anyone have any ideas why the heck things are getting so crusty? Know of a white cap that is made with brass contacts?
