What a difference an alignment makes! 200 1990

My car wasn't tracking real bad but it was wearing the outer edges of the front tires.I put a new set on and didn't want to piss through those so I sprung for and alignment.My car feels new,the steering wheel is perfectly straight and the car doesn't drift to the side.
How do they align your front end w/o removing the tie rod ends?Do they just loosen the stop nut and turn the tie rod in or out?
