When I replaced an intermitent CPS on my 92 245 I found rotting insulation in the wires that likely caused the failure. The outer rubber sheathing was dry rotted, the foil shielding was intact but as you can see from the picture the insulation around the inner wires was shot. One of the wires does not have insulation normaly but the red and white wires should have it. The insulation was very brittle and fell off removing the CPS.
I thought the biodegradeable wiring was solved in 88? Has anyone else noticed this? Dan
