940 Vibration Revisited 900 1993

A few months ago (when this car was new to me) I posted about a vibration when shifting out of Neutral to either Reverse or Drive, while holding with the brakes. Acting on several replies I replaced the Motor Mounts and Tranny Mount. I think the vibration got less noticeable for a while, but it never really stopped.

Lately I can even hear it, thanks to buzzing plastic parts -- quiet in Neutral, easy to hear in Rev or Park. I'm not real confident about the new MTC mounts, but the Oil Pan is still clear of the X-member rubber by maybe 3/8" (with marks on the pan where it had rubbed). It would seem that IF the engine isn't touching anything, then it's a load-sensitive response to something in the A/T. Or could it be the crank pulley/damper? (Which looks OK as far as I can tell. Never saw a bad one.)

I think this same vibration is also there at road speed -- sort of a "buzzing" sound/feel that I'd ordinarily attribute to M+S tread noise, if it wasn't for this same thing (?) when at a standstill. This is really annoying me, in a car with the 940's reputation for quality. It is nowhere near the quiet, vibration-free ride I enjoyed for 6+ years in my 1980 GLE (5 Liter with AOD A/T). Any suggestions would be most welcome,
