Guys,
A simple question from one is mechanically challenged. I am going to install new plug wires, plugs, rotor and dist cap from IPD on my 136K 1993 245. Everything went fine until I couldn't pull the rotor out of the distributor. Is there a trick to getting it out? I didn't want to use a pair of pliers for fear of breaking it, and it didn't seem to want to be pulled straight up.
The rotor seems to have quite a bit of deterioration, and the dist cap has scoring on each of the contact points. I had my indy mechanic tune it up at 120K, but it seems like the rotor & dist cap show more wear than I would think reasonable for 16K miles. Do they experience a rapid deterioration after installation.
I am replacing the plug wires (with blue rubber socket) with the Bougicord metal sockets. I don't think the plug wires have ever been changed since the car was new because I have all of the records and I don't find the wire swap out anywhere. Will the new wires/rotor/cap help it run better? The car seems to have a minor miss under acceleration.
Thanks...John
