Quick oil pressure sender question. 200

I am going to install the oil pressure gauge I stripped of a 81 turbo in my 90 240DL this weekend. There is just one thing I'm not clear on. The old oil pressure switch and wire - what or rather how do I attach the old wire to the "wk" connection? Should I cut off the old barrel looking connector and splice on a spade connector? Thanks
