What to do about small dings/chips under the doors on the running board 200

Hey all,
I've noticed a few small dings and what look to be tiny rust spots trying to form along the running board on both sides of the car. They are below the long black plastic strip that runs under doors. The paint is a darker silver than the rest of the car and was wondering what I should do to fix these small imperfections. Is there a special paint that I can buy that matches the original color? I've used the my factory paint (silver-metallic) to touch up in the past after scraping away the peeled junk on one of these under the front of the driver's door and it looks fine and barely noticeable, but the rust color has come back after this crazy winter, and after my '82 rotted away, even the smallest ding makes me nervous!!!

Best,
Adam
