trailer towing with 88 740 non turbo 700 1988

HI: I need to find out if it would be safe to tow a travel trailer that weighs 1000 LBs , without the need for electric trailer brakes and control panel. My 88 740 is in top machanical shape. It has a AW70 series automatic trans with overdrive and I installed an original trans cooler as well. The engine has 137000 miles on it. It is the B230F non-turbo. I know it can easily pull this trailer and a lot more, but stoping it is another matter. I feel I don't need the electric brakes for 2 reasons; 1,is the light weight of the trailer and 2,my wagon has disk brakes all around as all you guys already know. BUT I would feel a lot better to know what you think about this especially if you have used your 740s to do what I am about to do . Thanks in advance to all that reply, Dan
