Power window relay 200 1989

My power window relay recently burnt out and instead of getting a new one I used a jumper to bypass it. Now I can open the windows without the key. Does anyone know if this is a bad idea (I don't have small children who will be playing in my car)? Will this drain my battery or cause damage to a component in the circuit that I'm not considering.
