replacing factory radio 700 92

I need to replace the radio/tape deck that came with my 740 turbo wagon '92. I have been told by some of the shops that because of the additional amplifier on this model that I need to completely re-wire the car to replace the deck with an aftermarket radio/cd player.

Is it necessary to re wire? and should I expect to pay $150 to $180 for this service?
