Valves have been pinging for a long time I had 300,000 mile before I made a round trip from LA to New Orleans.My plan is to make 500,000, no work ever done to engine.Except for ping everything, is wonderful,I like my Volvo. I also have a 1984 Carrera which is a thrill but I like turning over those zeroes on long cross county tips most of all in my 240 waggon. How much longer can I go before having the engine rebuilt? Is it possible to make 500,000 without doing any thing at all? I bought this car new (good day at the race track), my hobbie is to just keep it going and like any hobbie I expect to spend money, it is worth it to me just in terms of something to believe in; so what should I do (I drive 85 to 90mph and have only 1 ticket since 1968 which is a miracle).If I drove the Porsche the way I drive the Volvo,I would not have a driver's license or insurance or even a car (nor my 72 Norton Commando which I am too bald to ride but which I still love starting up). In any case the question is can I do someting about valve ping? Should I do something about It??? Please give me a clue about making it to 500,000.>pi
