overdrive 700 1987

I have a 1987 760 turbo with an AW71 automatic transmission which will not shift into over drive. After studying all the other information on this site I still need help. So far I have flushed the transmission, inspected and replace the overdrive solenoid (it was working but had cracked insulation), replaced the overdrive relay, and checked the power to the solenoid. When the car is running the wire to the solenoid is hot except when I hit the overdrive switch on the shifter. This seems to indicate to me that that switch is working fine. I’m at a loss. Is there anything else outside of rebuilding the transmission that could solve my problem? I would sincerely appreciate any help. Thanks.
