Wiring/Installing Small Clock 200 89

I just got a VDO small clock to occupy one of the 2" sqaure covers to the right of the cluster and was wondering how to install. On the rear of the unit is the light bulb holder with a cut green wire attached, a "+12V" brass terminal (is that +?), a steel terminal (is that ground?), and a mysterious thin pole between the bulb holder and brass +12 V terminal-forget if there was even a wire attached there?

Can anyone please advise which wires go where. The clock was from an '85 and is now going in an '89 245. THANKS!
