stalls rough idle 200 87

My 87 240 stalls and has rough idle. the idle speed won't change by turning the idle bypass screw. I have checked for vacuum leaks and hear a hissing noise near the intake manifold but can't tell where. It seems to be near the middle of the manifold around the gasket. Has anyone had a gasket go bad or a crack in the maifold? thanks bob
