I haven't had to do anything to the AC on both of our 940's for over a year.
I noticed that the discharge air on the dash vents which normally runs about 42 degrees was showing above 50. I assumed it was time to top up the refrigerant.
I found that the compressor is not cycling like it normally does on both of the cars.
I don't have a good set of gauges- just the single gauge that came from AutoZone. When I put that on it reads in the yellow (Alert) until I increase the engine speed to 2000-2500 rpm at which point it drops down into the top area of the green (in range) of the gauge. Allowing the engine to drop down to idle speed puts the gauge back into the yellow range once again.
I believe my experience in the past has been that the compressor will run constantly when low on charge. Then when the refrigerant is added the compressor will begin to cycling on and off.
Any help in figuring out what is going on or what I am missing?
Thanks
