M41 manual transmission similarity 1800 1970

My 1970 1800E is equipped with a manual M41 trans/overdrive. I just had the clutch disk, pressure plate, pilot and throwout bearing replaced, so I have eliminated them as the sound source. I suspect I have a transmission shaft bearing problem that is making a whirring sound. I have a spare M41 transmission of unknown model year. My question is: Are all M41 manual transmissions the same or are the ones connected to an overdrive different. If they are the same, and I decide I can't live with the whirring, I might swap them.
