M45 Tranny Fill and Drain Plugs and Transmission Fluid 200 1980

I need your help and advice. My question was not found in the FAQs.

I have a 1980 242 DL with an M45 manual transmission.

I found the fill and drain plugs. They're square shaped with a bit of rounding off.

I'd like to change them out and install bolts so that I can use 6-point sockets to avoid rounding them out in the future. If this is possible, what are the specs for the threads and the length of the bolts?

Also, because the FAQs are dated, I'm wondering if there are any newer synthetic transmission fluids out there that would work in my M47?

Thanks
