Volvo trans rear housing gasket 200 1986

Hi all,
I'm in process of replacing the rear main trans seal in my 86 240. So far not a bad job except getting the remaining gasket left on the trans itself. Have tried every solvent I can find. I'm trying to be careful and not mess up the aluminum. Toughest gasket I've ever dealt with.
Anyone have any tips on getting this off.
