Dash Warning lights 200 1990

I just replaced the alternator and battery. I made sure to disconnect the battery before working on anything. The replacement was straight forward. It starts right up, is quiet and I can only assume holds a charge. Now, the dash warning lights don't come on like they used to. What's the deal? Usually, most of them stay lit when I turn the key to the "on" position. Then, when starting the car, they disappear.

But ever since the replacement, turning the key to the "on" position, some flash on, and the only lights that stay lit are the oil pressure and check engine. The other warning lights are nowhere to be found. What could have happened? How would I solve this? Does this matter? It just seems odd.

Thanks!
