Most of the dash warning lights are grounded through the alternator field, and by doing so, provide power to the alternator field. Make sure the field wire is connected. If it is connected, disconnect it and ground (connect) it to the motor. If the warning lights turn on, the circuitry is good, and you have a problem with the alternator field.
