So the original exhaust manifold on my B21F is severely pitted and cratered to hell. I will soon be procuring a new (used) cast iron replacement, and was wondering whether it would be better to heat wrap it, or try to procure one of the heat shields Iv'e seen older 240's use. Maybe both? I suppose I will paint it as well to protect it, but i'm concerned about the heat signature mostly. I have the BW55 three speed, so revs stay pretty high, especially on the freeway. I have a new engine wire harness installed with cloth heat tape protecting the entire harness, but holy moley when I lift the hood after a highway drive it feels like the surface of the sun under there. Can't be good for the long term health of the alternator, motor mounts, etc...I also have new fluid reservoirs and want to protect everything from the heat as best as I can until i get an M46 swapped in.
Any advice or thoughts are much appreciated, thanks as always!
