hi sages- actually only those sages with real time ac repair experience. as the long hot summer in se fla draws out i ponder possible repairs to my 92 245 owned since 011.my policy is to always anticipate and plan for inevitable necessary repairs. think it is time to do the ac. want to regularly run both cars- not good to let any car sit for long periods. right now the 245 is a good runner mostly around town and short trips. use it every day during the cooler months (oct- april). everything works and i carefully maintain the car. has 250k . prior owner added a can of r 134 to make the ac work which it did for 3 days after i bought it and then it blew hot air. dont really need ac except during may-sept when i use my 00 saturn L100 which has working ac. ac is one of the few jobs i usually hire out which means a trip to clip city. obviously the problem is a leak(s). ac refrigerent leaks usually have their source in compressor shaft seal/bearing, cracked transfer pipe/fitting, rubber high pressure hose or leaking evaporator/ condenser. diagnosis and repair always result in a home run and fat paycheck for the dealer/mechanic . having read most of the ac messages on the board here and talked to friends and enemies locally who are volvo sages, i surmise getting this ac working again will soak me for at least 2k. if you have done this work or hired it out, please critique my analysis. any recommendations/alternatives would be welcome. thanks tons oldduke
