For as long as i have owned my 65' 1800S the shifter ball or more specifically the reverse lockout spring mechanism tends to buzz loudly at higher RPM. If i grip the shifter ball it will stop. I have added a washer under the spring to add tension to the point where i can barely lift the shifter over the reverse lockout gate, no real change to the buzz. Any other ideas? Is this common? I thought maybe some heatshrink over the spring but that may hinder the lockouts ability to function. The buzz is in every gear at higher RPMs and in third even at lower RPMs (third is worn a bit, has a slight whine)
Thanks!
