Dropping rpm's when braking at the bottom of a hill 900 1993

Interesting situation that happens only when coasting down a long hill, and braking at the end of it. As I approach the stop sign RPMs start dropping to almost zero but usually bounce right back to normal. Couple of times engine died, but started right up. There are no error codes. I suspect some lose vacuum hose, or brake booster problem. What do you think?
