dizzy advance springs too slack? 444-544

My 65 544 has Bosch JFR 4 dizzy. I removed it from the engine to clean it and put in new points and condenser. I removed the points plate to check out the advance weights and springs. The springs appear very slack and in fact are loose with no tension. The weights can be moved half their travel without pulling on the springs. Is this normal? Are new springs available?
Any comments or advice will be welcome. Tom
