Here is my problem I have a 1994 non turbo Volvo wagon with the 4 cylinder engine ,the car has roughly 306,000 miles on original engine /tranny ...I love this car ,it is my Go to Workhorse here is the issue , when the car is hot /warm that is ambient temperature hot not engine temp hot , basically when the windows are rolled up and interior is hot , I start it up and the " SRS " light comes on and wants to stay on and if I dont remedy this it eventually drags my battery down ...my remedy is to Brutally pound on the dash above the Tachometer area , or some times the alternator , or sometimes disconnect the pos. bat . lead , but mostly if I brutally beat on dash it goes out and Im on my way... I have tried replacing alternator to no avail ,thinking it could be a voltage regulator issue ...it only seems to do this when the interior gets hot ...if I leave the windows down I dont have to beat on dash area above tach but just very lightly , in the winter ...no problem at all , This has been ongoing for years and I just live with it as I live in a very cold climate area at 7000 plus feet ...now I have thought that beating on this may set off air bag ...but it hasnt , and I have literally bent the dash I've beat it so hard , the car runs like a champ and as I said it is my workhorse , I am a fairly efficient mechanic and do most if not all of my own repairs or replacements it puls no error codes and flashes 1-1-1 on the obd 1...what I would like to know is can I basically performa " histerectomy on the SRS and remove it ...there is no state inspection here , and I feel totally comfortable driving the car w/out it ...heck if it is legit to drive a cycle with no helmet here no big issue or does anyone have any ideas as to wtf is going on ...is there a diode or something in the instrument cluster that when I beat on it is jarred into working if anyone can help I would appreciate it ...and I am not taking a 500.00 volvo to the dealer for a run around ...please contact me here and I can send my email and phone number if need be ... a case of brewskis awaits the winning resolution Sincerly thanks Ben
