I am having trouble navigating this forum again. Can someone move this to the V70 section if I'm not already in it?
Very expensive repair coming up on Volvo V70 turbo wagon, $1000 +, I'm guessing. I really like this car and have had it for a long time. Driving up a mountain the other day I noticed the temperature increasing. It was too dangerous to stop until approximately 3 minutes after the temperature gauge hit the lower part of the red on the gauge. So, I drove the car for only 3 minutes at a high engine temperature, then, after it cooled down, I added coolant and tried continuing the journey but the temperature started to creep up again so I stopped and got a tow truck. I haven't heard from the mechanic yet (well known Volvo mechanic Julio from Kemblawarra) if the head is cracked but he says the head gasket is gone. Is it worth replacing? I have had the timing belt replaced only a few months back so I don't need to do that at the same time. The car has 230,000 kilometres on the clock. It's otherwise in great condition.
