starter stays engaged in cold temps. 92 740 automatic regina 700

Hey to all, I have a problem with starter staying engaged with temps. below 30 degrees outside. The problem has been narrowed down to the area of the starter meshing with the ring gear. With the switch wire disconnected at the starter and a hand held starter button connected to the terminal the starter still stays engaged. The flywheel has no rust on the gear teeth. Three starters all do the same thing. One starter was a Napa rebuild and the other two were known good ones. When the temps. are around 40 degrees outside, everything works fine. The car was bought in Florida so I can`t tell ya the whole history of the car. After measuring the flywheel it seems to be in the proper location compared with my other B-230`s. Not sure if the flywheel has ever been changed. The teeth are in perfect shape as far as wear is concerned. Thanks for any input on this mind boggling problem. Maybe someone has seen this problem before. Larry
