I have a 1990 740 GL that I am now using to commute to work in daily. My family also has a 1995 940 wagon with about 250,000 miles that is on it's last legs from my brother destroying it over the course of 4 years of college. I really wish the wagon was in better shape because the interior was very nice & it seems to ride better than the 740.
For about a day, I thought about switching the 740's engine & transmission over to the 940 to have one good, complete car. Would y'all even consider this, or should I just swap components over to the 740?
I am wondering which major components can be switched over to the 740 or which components you would switch over if you had the chance?
So far I've switched my steel wheels with the aries wheels from the wagon & switched out my non-working radio for the alpine stereo in the wagon. Can I switched A/C compressor & lines over to the 740, since my A/C is non-working & is still R12? Also could the cruise control be switched over from the wagon? How labor intensive would that be?
Any other major systems that could be switched over?
Thanks everybody,
Ben
