In an effort to document this, is case another should find it useful.
Now, ANY "high security" (aka: "flat cut") or anything else of similar size and shape will open the lock.
Let's face it, those locks are expensive, bothersome, and a 1988 Volvo Station Wagon is just not a high value target for would-be thieves.
This is what the lock looked like completely disassembled.

For all outward appearances they are "real" locks, and for anybody watching I'm using a "real" key to unlock/lock the doors.
Besides, anybody attacking the lock with a screwdriver is probably not to be dissuaded by causing a large amount of damage, anyway.
Around here they are more likely to just smash out a window with any heavy object close at hand anyway.
