Please help!
I got a killer deal on a 1992 240 sedan about 4 months ago. Thing was a grandma car sitting in the garage, with only 67k miles on it! Anyhow ran great no problems for four months! Until 2 days ago. I'm not sure where to start.
I pulled the codes, and got 2-3-2, "Adaptive fuel trim too lean or too rich at idle". Whatever the problem is; is bad enough to were cold start it will stall out unless I hold the accelerator. I was able to "limp home" from work by two foot driving so I could keep it above idle even at full stop. However, at full speed and high rpm it works absolutely fine. After driving for about 10 minutes or so it works well, and does not stall out anymore tho it may not be idling quite as smooth as normal.
I am seeing that you brickboard fellas almost universally call the 232 code the oxygen sensor or vacuum leak code. I guess I need help better understaning the function of this system, as well as troubleshooting tips for the vacuum lines associated with the fuel mix.
I was under the impression that the ECU ignores the O2 sensor until the engine is hot? To troubleshoot the vacuum I would think engine needs to be running, but it stalls out without the accelerator pushed in a bit, is the only option a 2nd person?
Help please! This 240's a gem! I can let it go out like this!
