Dear Fellow Brickboarders,
Hope you're well. All of a sudden, the engine - which runs smoothly - rocks side-to-side, rhythmically, such that it shakes the car. I cannot recall a post reporting this type of malfunction.
The following conditions obtain:
(a) RPMs are stable (change of Idle Air Control Valve made no difference);
(b) Rocking occurs when car is standing still & in neutral or in "drive"/moving;
(c) No codes show on the OBD readers;
(d) all drive belts/pulleys run true: no wobbles, etc.
I recently replaced distributor cap, rotor, and plug wires: car ran smoothly for six weeks. I also changed the oxygen sensor (preventive maintenance).
I disconnected the negative battery cable clamp from the battery, to re-set the ECU. The rocking persists.
Could this be a motor mount problem? They look fine from above.
I look forward to the benefit of your advice.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
